About Being Initiative

  • International mental health initiative focused on improving mental health and wellbeing for young people.
  • Works through research, innovation, and building supportive environments.
  • Prioritizes 12 countries: Colombia, Ecuador, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Morocco, Pakistan, Romania, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, and Vietnam.

RFP Focus

  • Funding innovative, prevention-focused solutions for youth mental health (ages 10-24).
  • Prioritizes underserved communities and addressing root causes of mental health challenges.
  • Emphasizes community-driven, culturally sensitive, rights-based approaches that actively involve youth and those with lived experience.

Funding Types

  • Proof-of-Concept (POC): Up to $250,000 CAD for early-stage projects.
  • Transition-to-Scale (TTS): $300,000 - $1,500,000 CAD to support scaling of solutions.
  • Ecosystem Catalyst (EC): $200,000 - $300,000 CAD to address systemic barriers to scaling mental health solutions.


  • Any legally incorporated organization can apply.
  • Projects MUST be implemented in one of the 12 priority countries.
  • Preference given to:
    • Youth-led organizations in priority countries
    • Organizations based in priority countries
    • Organizations in low/middle-income countries partnering with organizations in priority countries

How to Apply

  • Rolling application process – applications accepted and reviewed periodically.
  • Two-stage application:
    • Stage 1: Screening questionnaire & project summary
    • Stage 2: Full project application (by invitation only)
  • Current intake deadline to register for submission: April 23, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. EDT
