???? Background:
India has set a target of 500 GW renewable energy (RE) capacity by 2030. However, as of the end of 2024, the installed capacity stood at 162 GW. With only five years left, the country faces significant challenges in scaling up RE.

???? Challenges in India’s RE Transition

  • Payment delays to renewable energy firms
  • Inadequate grid capacity
  • Unclear policies on repowering old wind turbines
  • Land shortages for new projects
  • Uneven adoption of rooftop solar

The grant aims to highlight these challenges while also exploring innovative solutions to accelerate India's clean energy transition.

???? Who Can Apply? (Eligibility)

???? Applicants must be based in India
???? Groups of communicators can apply, but one lead applicant must be responsible for funds and communication
???? Only text reports are eligible (but can include images, maps, and infographics)
???? Freelancers, staff reporters, and independent journalists are welcome
????‍???? Women, Indigenous, and marginalized community communicators are encouraged to apply
