• Support for Early-Career Professors: This program includes a sub-track to support early-career professors (faculty who have begun their faculty careers within five years of submission of application).
• Long-term Collaboration: Google intends to strengthen long-term collaborative relationships with faculty working on impactful technological problems.

• Machine Intelligence: Research in machine intelligence at Google involves deep scientific and engineering challenges, contributing to the broader academic community through technical talks and publications. Key challenges include rapidly shifting data statistics, changing features of interest, and the need for enormous computation capacity. Effective learning systems require a combination of deep learning, statistical models, and ideas from control and game theory.

Award Information:

• Funds: The funds granted will be $20,000, intended to support the advancement of the professor’s research.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Faculty can submit one application per round.
• The application must include:
  • A two-page research proposal outlining the research agenda (research goals, proposed approach, expected outcomes, relation to prior work).
  • The faculty member’s CV.
