Objective: To recognize and felicitate individual(s)/ organization(s) who have made significant impact on society for a sustained period of time through promotion and development of Yoga.
About Yoga:
- Derived from the Sanskrit root "yuj" meaning "to join", "to yoke" or "to unite".
- Symbolizes unity of mind and body, thought and action, restraint and fulfillment, harmony between human and nature, and a holistic approach to health and well-being.
- Recognized for disease prevention, health promotion, and management of lifestyle-related disorders.
- United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 21st June as the International Day of Yoga (IDY).
Award Categories:
- National: Two awards for entities of Indian origin.
- International: Two awards for entities of Indian or foreign origin, for contribution to the promotion and development of Yoga globally.
- Each year, the Jury may decide to give awards to one or more individuals/organizations or none.
- An entity may not be considered again for an award in the same category after receiving it once.
Award Information:
- Winners receive a Trophy, Certificate, and Cash Award.
- Cash Award value: Rs 25 lakh each.
- In case of joint winners, awards are divided among them.
- Felicitation ceremony coincides with the International Yoga Conference.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Rich experience and deep understanding of Yoga.
- Minimum eligible age: 40 years for individual applicants/nominees in both National & International categories.
- Minimum 20 years of service with outstanding contribution to Yoga promotion and development.
Evaluation Criteria:
- Contribution to the body of knowledge.
- Promotion of Yoga among the masses for mental, physical, and spiritual health.
- Impact on society by strengthening ethical and spiritual values.
