Organization Overview

Better Cotton is a leading global sustainability program focused on cotton production. It aims to support cotton communities and environmental sustainability. The organization has trained over 2.9 million cotton farmers across 26 countries, and approximately 20% of the world's cotton is produced under the Better Cotton Standard. Better Cotton's network includes more than 2,400 members.

Proposal Focus

The proposal focuses on advancing social impact, with a specific emphasis on:

1. Gender Equality
2. Sustainable Livelihoods
3. Decent Work

The RFP is part of Better Cotton's 2030 strategy to enhance the well-being and economic development of cotton farming communities. A key objective is to increase the representation of women in leadership roles within the cotton industry, particularly in field staff positions, aiming for 25% of field staff to be women by 2030.

Scope of Work

The assignment is to be conducted in Maharashtra and Telangana, India, and consists of two main objectives:

1. Recruitment and Empowerment: To develop a better understanding of strategies for recruiting and retaining women in leadership roles within the cotton industry.
2. Impact Analysis: To document how women in these roles act as change agents promoting gender equality and amplifying the voices of women in the cotton sector.

Key Tasks

The proposal must cover the following tasks:

1. Inception Report: Initial planning and methodology outline.
2. Data Collection: Gathering information and insights on current practices and challenges.
3. Final Learning Document and Case Studies: Compiling best practices and lessons learned into a comprehensive report.

Application Process

Proposals must be no more than 5 pages (excluding CVs) and should include:

• An overview of relevant experience, including CVs of the consultants.
• A technical proposal detailing the methodology and sampling strategy.
• A transparent budget, broken down by objectives and deliverables, with clear time allocations and day rates.
