The Foundation Supports Projects and Research That:

• Generate Local or Regional Solutions: Tackle issues affecting environmental quality and human life.
• Advance Local Leadership: Promote professional development in conservation, agriculture, and health sciences.
• Develop Local Capacity: Strengthen local organizations and coalitions.
• Address Challenges in the Field: Focus on under-funded issues and regions.

1. Conservation:

   • Protect Biodiversity and Natural Resources.
   • Mitigate Climate Change Effects.
   • Build Capacity of Local Conservation Organizations.
   • Promote Engagement Between Scientists, Communities, and Decision-Makers.
   • Partner with Indigenous Communities.

2. Food:

   • Enhance Food Security.
   • Promote Sustainable Agricultural Practices.
   • Build Capacity of Small-Scale Farmers.
   • Develop Environmentally Sound Methods to Control Pests and Diseases.
   • Support Indigenous Food Sovereignty.
   • Improve Technology Transfer and Education.

Grant Size

• Range: 25,000 - 50,000 USD per year
• Duration: 1-2 years, with possible second-year funding based on progress.

Eligibility

• Supported Regions: Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Latin America, and the Middle East.
• Eligible Organizations: Non-governmental, nonprofit, civil society, community-based organizations, and academic institutions.
• Ineligible: Projects in post-Soviet and Balkan states, government agencies, and religious organizations (unless as project partners).
