About the Challenge: Gender-Responsive Innovation Challenge (GRIC)
The UNICEF Venture Fund, in collaboration with GITEX Africa, launches the GRIC to foster gender-responsive innovation in technology. The challenge focuses on three key areas:
- Investing in diverse and underrepresented founders, especially women founders.
- Increasing the availability of digital products and services tailored to the needs of vulnerable and underrepresented populations, such as children, women, people with disabilities, and refugees.
- Facilitating inclusive user design in innovation development.
Benefits:
- Companies selected will receive mentorship and technical assistance from Venture Fund experts to enhance their investment readiness and potential for future funding.
- Mentorship includes 10 hours covering various areas such as open-source, business development, frontier technology, software development, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Additional support will be provided to understand and navigate the Venture Fund sourcing and selection process.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Solutions should address challenges to accelerate results for children.
- Optimized for low-resource environments with limited connectivity and mobile access.
- Focus on reducing inequalities rather than widening them.
- Ability to deliver in multiple languages, including smaller languages.
