???? Purpose of the Assignment

aQysta seeks to engage an experienced Organic Training Consultant or Agency to strengthen farmer capacity in organic and regenerative agriculture, focusing on Lakadong Turmeric and Ginger cultivation.

The goal is to boost yield and quality through sustainable practices while guiding farmers through the organic certification process.

???? Key Objectives

• Deliver farmer training on regenerative and organic practices (agroforestry, inter-cropping, composting, bio-inputs, etc.).

• Facilitate transition from conventional to organic farming systems.

• Achieve at least 20% higher yields while maintaining product quality.

• Assist farmers in obtaining organic certification (NPOP or equivalent).

• Develop practical, farmer-friendly Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs) for sustainable turmeric and ginger cultivation.

???? Scope of Work

1. Training Content Development

• Assess current farming practices among target farmer groups.

• Design comprehensive modules on:

  • Transitioning to organic systems

  • Soil health, composting, mulching, and crop rotation

  • Preparation of bio-fertilizers and bio-pesticides

  • Natural pest and disease management

  • Post-harvest quality preservation

  • Documentation and record-keeping for certification

• Prepare SoPs for organic turmeric and ginger.

• Create easy-to-understand materials in Khasi/Pnar and English, including visuals and illustrations.

2. Training Delivery

• Conduct 7 decentralized, hands-on training sessions across 5 farmer groups in West Jaintia Hills.

• Use participatory demonstrations and local examples.

• Guide farmers in maintaining records required for organic certification.

3. Certification Support

• Provide step-by-step support for certification under NPOP or other approved systems.

• Help in setting up Internal Control Systems (ICS) and documentation.

• Coordinate with recognized certification bodies (including EU Organic linkages) to ensure compliance.

4. Monitoring & Reporting

• Submit a detailed report after each training session (topics, attendance, feedback).

• Prepare a final consolidated impact report summarizing adoption levels, yield improvements, and recommendations.

• Training plan and timeline for the assignment

• Detailed training modules and SoPs for turmeric and ginger

• Farmer manuals and visual materials in Khasi/Pnar and English

• Attendance records for all 7 training sessions

• Certification documentation and compliance records

• Session-wise and final reports highlighting results and impact

⏰ Project Timeline

• Duration: From contract signing to November 2026

• Final Impact Report: To be submitted by January 2027

• Proven experience in organic and regenerative agriculture training

• Prior work with Lakadong turmeric, ginger, or similar spice crops

• Strong understanding of NPOP and international certification systems

• Ability to design and deliver training in Pnar, Khasi, and English

• Experience working with smallholder farmers in Northeast India is preferred
