Empowering Girls through Creative Design: Call for Proposals – Room to Read India
Room to Read India invites proposals from experienced design and illustration agencies to create impactful, gender-transformational content promoting literacy and gender equality. Apply by January 16, 2025.
Introduction
- Organization: Room to Read India.
- Mission: Transform lives of children in developing countries, focusing on literacy and gender equality in education.
- Goal: Ensure girls complete secondary school with life skills and mentoring to negotiate key life decisions.
- Key Focus: Life Skills and Mentoring under the Gender Equality Portfolio (GEP) to support girls’ education and gender equality.
Background
- Purpose: Develop materials for annual engagement activities related to life skills and gender equality.
- Objective:
- Build awareness and momentum around life skills and gender.
- Create content in a reader-friendly, visually appealing format to engage stakeholders.
- Motivate stakeholders about girls’ education and gender equality.
- Scope: Design and illustrate products for campaigns, newsletters, manuals, videos, and other digital/physical materials.
Scope of Work and Deliverables
- Designing and Illustrating Products:
- Infographics, posters, short films/videos, GIFs, emailers, manuals, and illustrations (simple, moderate, and complex).
- Ensure content is child-friendly, gender-balanced, and free from stereotypes.
- Align designs with Room to Read’s branding guidelines.
- Content Expectations:
- Content in Hindi and English, fully proofread and edited.
- Conceptualize innovative ideas for gender-focused content.
- High-quality, reader-friendly, and visually appealing materials.
- Formats:
- Designs should be adaptable for both digital and physical usage (color palettes, resolutions).
- Provide print-ready files for all materials.
- Approval Process: Final illustrations to be approved by Room to Read representatives.
Key Deliverables
- Posters, Flyers, and Infographics: Various sizes (A4, A5, A6, A7, etc.), designed for both print and digital use.
- Manuals and Reports:
- Comprehensive training manuals (up to 2000 pages/year).
- Simple layouts for inside pages.
- Illustrations:
- Complex, moderately complex, and simple illustrations.
- Videos and GIFs:
- Animated/live-action videos (1–3 minutes).
- GIFs for digital engagement.
- Other Materials:
- Brochures, banners, certificates, email signages, worksheets, and wall paintings.
- Technical Aspects:
- High-resolution designs (300 DPI).
- Appropriate formatting, editing, and user-friendly layouts.
Technical Evaluation Criteria
The agency will be scored out of 50 points based on the following:
- Quality of Proposal: Clear structure, unique methodologies, and understanding of the ToR.
- Experience with National/International Organizations: Including prior work with Room to Read, if any.
- Expertise in Gender and Education Content: Ability to create gender-transformational designs.
- Design Styles: Proficiency in diverse formats (newsletters, banners, brochures, etc.).
- Team Expertise: Clearly defined roles and team member qualifications.
