The Wilkes Climate Launch Prize highlights top global ideas for combating climate change by encouraging technological and policy innovations.

Key Evaluation Criteria

• Scalable Impact:

  • Potential reduction or removal of greenhouse gases (MT CO2-equivalent) in the immediate (2025–2027) and near-term future (2030).
  • Opportunities for scaling up impact by 2030–2050.
  • Potential for transformative change in the sector.
  • Estimated permanence and confidence in emissions reduction/removal estimates.

• Feasibility:

  • Demonstrations of feasibility (stage, location).
  • Current cost per MT CO2-equivalent and estimated future costs by 2030.
  • Team expertise and plans to overcome barriers and risks.

• Co-Benefits:

  • Benefits to communities, economies, and ecosystems.
  • Mitigation plans for potential negative consequences.

Eligibility

• Open to for-profits and nonprofits globally, including seed, pre-seed, venture-funded, or publicly traded organizations.

How to Apply

1. Phase I:

   • Submit first-round applications by February 28, 2025 (11:59 PM MST).

2. Phase II:

   • Finalists submit second-round applications on May 13, 2025.
   • Pitch solutions in-person at the Wilkes Climate Summit, University of Utah, on May 15, 2025.

3. Awards:

   • Winners announced at the award ceremony in September 2025.
