Role of IUCN:
Plan, design, and implement FLR measures ensuring ecological, socio-economic, governance, and climate-related benefits.


Project Objectives

  1. Select model sites for FLR development.
  2. Create Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for 12 model sites and operational plans for 6 pilot sites.
  3. Implement measures to restore degraded areas.
  4. Develop Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMPs).
  5. Build stakeholder capacities for FLR planning and execution.
  6. Document lessons from FLR implementation.

Work Packages

  1. Scoping:

    • Identify 12 model sites in four states, including Maharashtra.
    • Conduct stakeholder analysis, SWOT analysis, and baseline assessments (socio-economic and biophysical).
  2. Planning:

    • Develop DPRs with FLR strategies, funding, monitoring plans, and ESMPs.
    • Identify 6 pilot sites for FLR demonstrations.
  3. Implementation:

    • Implement FLR measures in pilot sites.
    • Conduct livelihood training and engage communities for sustainability.
    • Monitor results and document lessons learned.

Geographic Scope

  • Four landscapes (model sites) in Maharashtra: Pune, Ahmednagar, Chandrapur, and Jalgaon districts.
  • Total area: Approx. 50,000 hectares.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Registered as a national or local organization in India.
  • Sufficient organizational capacity, including skilled personnel, equipment, and technology.
  • Experience in participatory, culturally sensitive community engagement.
  • Prior involvement in FLR-focused projects in Maharashtra.
  • Proficiency in English, Hindi, and local languages.
