About the Project:

This project is a holistic and comprehensive initiative aimed at improving the well-being, health, and road safety of truck drivers in India. The health camps will focus on:

  • General Health Check-ups (non-invasive)
  • Stress Level Assessments using GHQ-12
  • Vision Screening and providing on-the-spot spectacles as required
  • Health Insurance Enrollment and Orientation Sessions on well-being and safety

Objectives of the Project:

  • Safer Roads: Enhance road safety by improving the overall health of truck drivers with a special focus on vision screening and on-the-spot spectacle distribution.

  • Social Security Mapping: Map the social security status of truck drivers and link them with health insurance schemes such as Ayushman Bharat, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, and Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-dhan.

  • Awareness and Sensitization: Educate truck drivers on health, hygiene, soft skills, and basic yoga techniques to maintain fitness.


Scope of Work:

I. Feasibility Study and Location Identification:

  • Conduct a feasibility study to identify suitable locations for health and vision screening camps.
  • Target locations must allow a minimum 2.5 hours stopover and have 75-100 drivers per day.

II. Project Mobilization and Outreach:

  • Mobilize truck drivers to meet daily screening targets (minimum 75 drivers).
  • Engage with local stakeholders, including truck unions and transport associations to ensure wide participation and support.

III. Camp Setup and Management:

  • Identify and secure suitable locations for setting up health and vision screening camps.
  • Ensure the camp is equipped for health check-ups, vision screening, and corrective spectacle distribution.
  • Manage logistics, operations, and staffing to ensure each camp screens a minimum of 75 persons per day.

IV. Interventions at Camp:

  • Register participants as per the established process.
  • Conduct health check-ups and vision screening following defined protocols.
  • Link participants with at least one social security scheme like Ayushman Bharat.
  • Provide orientation on road behavior and soft skills.
  • Dispense spectacles as prescribed by doctors.
  • Ensure sufficient manpower is present, including MBBS doctors, para-medics, ophthalmologists, and support staff.
  • Ensure real-time reporting using SOPs and technology provided by FSHRD.

Project Coverage and Implementation Strategy:

The program will be implemented in Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu, covering at least 5 CAMP locations. The locations should be chosen based on a minimum 2.5 hours stopover and the availability of drivers.


Seeking Expressions of Interest:

FSHRD is inviting proposals from capable NGOs/Hospitals/Nursing homes with experience in conducting similar health camps over the last three years. Interested organizations should have experience working on the ground in the specified states and should be capable of providing logistics, operations, and manpower for the camps.

Districts/Locations:

  • Karnataka: Bangalore, Hubli, Mangalore, Nelamangala
  • Maharashtra: Thane, Navi Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune
  • Tamil Nadu: Chennai, Coimbatore, Hosur, Trichy

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Proven experience in implementing health and welfare projects, particularly in camp formats for drivers.
  • Capacity to manage large-scale camps and outreach programs.
  • Strong network with local communities, government bodies, and healthcare providers.
  • Expertise in data management, analysis, and reporting.
  • Capable of screening and testing a minimum of 5000 drivers per state in 45 days.
