The Government of India has instituted the Subhas Chandra Bose Aapda Prabandhan Puraskar Award to recognize excellent work by individuals and institutions in India in the field of Disaster Management, covering areas such as Prevention, Mitigation, Preparedness, Rescue, Response, Relief, Rehabilitation, Research/Innovations, or Early Warning.

Award Information:

• For Institutions:
  • A certificate
  • Cash prize of Rs. 51 lakhs (to be utilized for Disaster Management related activities only)
• For Individuals:
  • A certificate
  • Cash prize of Rs. 5.00 lakhs
• Number of Awardees: 3

Ceremony Details:

• The award will be announced on January 23rd each year, commemorating the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Nationality: Only Indian nationals and Indian institutions are eligible to apply.
• Institutions: Includes voluntary organizations, corporate entities, academic/research institutions, response/uniformed forces, or any other relevant institution.
• Work Area: The candidate must have worked in Disaster Management in India, covering areas such as:
  • Prevention
  • Mitigation
  • Preparedness
  • Rescue
  • Response
  • Relief
  • Rehabilitation
  • Research/Innovations
  • Early Warning Systems

Application Requirements:

The application must include details of the work done in disaster management and highlight achievements in one or more of the following areas:

• Saving human lives
• Reduction in impact of disasters (loss of lives, livestock, livelihoods, property, and socio-economic effects on communities)
• Mobilization and provision of resources for effective response during disasters
• Immediate relief work in disaster-hit areas and communities
• Effective and innovative use of technology in disaster management
• Disaster mitigation initiatives in hazard-prone areas
• Capacity building of communities for response and risk reduction
• Early warning systems and dissemination of disaster risk information in real-time
• Scientific/technical research and innovation in disaster management
• Post-disaster recovery and rehabilitation
• Continued availability of critical infrastructure and basic services during disasters
• Creating awareness among the masses for disaster preparedness
• Any other area related to Disaster Risk Management
