Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF) was established in 2006 to facilitate the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities of Hyundai Motor India Limited sustainably. The projects of HMIF align with the vision of progress for humanity and focus on three main communication areas: Earth, Mobility, and Hope.

About the Grant

Launched in 2021, the Art for Hope program aims to support the arts and cultural industry in a post-pandemic world, having provided over 100 grants to artists across India.

Art for Hope embodies Hyundai’s belief in the transformative power of creativity and innovation. The program offers a platform and support for undiscovered youth, women, and rural and traditional artists to showcase their art. Its vision is to inspire positive feelings, drive societal change, and foster community connection through art.

Under Hyundai’s global vision of “Progress for Humanity,” Art for Hope celebrates diverse arts and culture, ensuring accessibility for all, including people with disabilities, through interaction and collaboration.

Categories

Eligible applicants can apply under the following categories:

  • Individual Category: Independent artists, whether working alone or in a group, should apply in this category.
  • Institutional Category: Groups of artists formally organized as a collective or representing an institution, NGO, or association should apply here.

You can apply for a project under the following art categories:

  • Visual Art: Includes all forms of drawing, painting, sculpture, and mixed media without digital intervention.
  • Digital Art: Covers all forms of photography, new media arts, filmmaking, multimedia arts, and digital arts created using technology.
  • Performance Art: Encompasses all movement arts, including music and other performing arts.
  • Traditional Arts & Culture: Supports recognized folk arts and crafts of India, including folk musicians, performers, and any research or artisan empowerment program.
  • Functional Innovative Art & Crafts: Focuses on sustainable and eco-friendly product innovation or utilitarian product concepts using crafts.
  • Multidisciplinary Arts: Supports projects that involve a cross-collaboration of two or more forms of art.

Grant Size

The maximum project cost limits are:

  • 40 grants for individual applicants: ₹100,000 each (including grants for persons with disabilities).
  • 10 grants for collective applicants: ₹200,000 each.

Eligibility

Individual Grant:

  • Applicants must be 40 years and below for categories like visual art, digital art, functional innovative arts, performance arts, and multidisciplinary arts.
  • No age limit for artists applying in the traditional arts category.
  • A minimum of 3-4 years of formal training is required in relevant categories.
  • Preference will be given to traditional artisans holding “Pehchaan Cards” issued by Development Commissioners (Handicraft/Handlooms).
  • Art must be the primary occupation of the applicant.
  • Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) are encouraged to apply; a UNIQUE DISABILITY ID CARD (UDID) or a certificate is required for validation.

Collective/Institutional Grant:

  • Available to registered NGOs, trusts, museums, associations, collectives, artist groups, or social enterprises.
  • Unregistered groups must apply in the Individual grant category.
  • Project location must be within India.
