The Mrinalini Mukherjee Foundation (MMF), in collaboration with People’s Archive of Rural India (PARI), is inviting applications for the MMF-PARI Fellowship. This year, special preference will be given to proposals focusing on voices of marginalized communities and under-represented art forms and traditions.
Focus Areas:
The proposal should explore one or more of the following areas:
- Living art and craft traditions
- Social and cultural context of artisan communities
- Art and craft in a contemporary context
- The role of technology in artisans' lives and practice
- Public forums for arts (e.g., festivals, rituals, ceremonies)
- New or unusual materials in arts and crafts
- Collaborations between artists
- Local cuisines and unique food practices of rural India
Funding Information:
- Fellowship Award: Rs. 1 lakh (includes all project costs such as travel and equipment)
- Honorarium: Rs. 2,000 to the artisan(s) featured in each story
Expected Output:
Fellows are required to submit 4 multimedia stories to PARI, which can be in the form of:
- Text articles with photos
- Video films of 5-10 minutes with a brief write-up
- Photo stories
Possible output combinations include:
- 2 text stories with photos + 1 photo essay + 1 video film
- 2 photo stories + 2 video films
- 3 text stories with photos + 1 photo story
Timeline for Submission: Fellows must submit one story every alternate month to complete the fellowship in the stipulated time.
Copyright: The copyright for all stories and materials will jointly belong to the Fellow, PARI, and MMF.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Indian citizens living and working in India
- Applicants must be 18 years or older
- Applications accepted from individuals or teams of two (Note: Fellowship amount of Rs. 1 lakh will be shared by the team)

Proposal: A detailed proposal with 4-6 story ideas/pitches focusing on the art, craft, or artisanal communities to be covered.
- Timeline: Stories must be submitted between February 1 and September 30, 2025.
- Undertaking: Each proposal must include a statement confirming that only original stories will be submitted.

Resume/CV:
- Include contact information (email, postal address, phone number) and links to professional work.
- Share photographs/videos via Google Drive link or YouTube.
- Include current employment details or ongoing projects.
- Team applications should include the Resume/CV of both team members in a single PDF.
