About the Proposal
IFPRI, with the support of the Gates Foundation, is conducting a study on the impact of agriculture extension services provided by a solvent extractor to soybean farmers in Maharashtra, India. The focus is on farmers in Latur, Osmanabad, Bid, and nearby districts, evaluating the services on various agricultural and economic outcomes.
- Study Purpose:
- Examine the impact of extension services on:
- Cost of cultivation
- Agricultural yields and profits
- Price realization
- Recognition of the processor
- Percentage of soybean sold through the processor
- Information-seeking behavior and use of advisory services
- Knowledge and adoption of recommended behavior
- Sustainability certifications
- Digitize soybean plots and provide remote sensing data for these farms.

Scope of Work
- Data Coverage:
- Approx. 4500 farmers from 300 villages
- 4500 plots across an estimated 4500-10,000 acres of land
- Tasks:
- Deliver remote sensing data in CSV format as per IFPRI's preferences.
- Confidentiality: Ensure all data and farmer identities remain confidential and are owned by IFPRI.
- Ensure the list of farmers, plot locations, and data are not shared without written permission from IFPRI.
- Be responsive to communications from IFPRI, especially regarding urgent data collection issues.
Eligibility Criteria
- Experience: Proven track record of supplying remote sensing data and advisories in agriculture.
- Local Engagement: Demonstrated ability to work with local administration, village leaders, and communities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with not-for-profit organizations or academic institutions on research.
- Specialization: Specific experience with soybean cultivation.
