The Department of Science and Technology (DST) and Institut National de Recherche en Informatique et en Automatique (Inria) have launched a joint call for proposals to foster collaboration between scientific communities of India and France in the area of Information and Communication Science & Technology.

In India, the Indo-French Centre for Promotion of Advanced Research (CEFIPRA) will handle the call for proposals, organize expert & review committee meetings, and manage the disbursement of funds to approved projects.

Focus Areas

Project proposals will be supported in the following scientific areas:

  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Cybersecurity
  • Advanced Communication and other relevant digital Technologies
  • Digital Health

Funding Information

  • The indicative funding from each side will be up to Euro 10,000-15,000 (Rs. 10-15 lakhs) per project per year.
  • The support will be given under the following heads:
    • International travel (India to France & vice-versa), including airfare, daily allowance, accommodation, and domestic travel in the receiving country.
    • Support for JRF/SRF/RAPDF
    • Contingency up to Rs. 50,000 per year.
    • Overhead to institute as per DST norms.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Indian Applicants: Must hold a permanent position as a scientist or faculty member in universities, deemed universities, academic institutes, or national research and development laboratories.
  • French Applicants: Must carry out research activities in an Inria project-team.

Evaluation Criteria

  • Relevance of the proposal to the call.
  • Technical and Scientific quality of the proposal.
  • Quality of the project management & methodology.
  • Global Impact of the proposal.
  • Quality of the consortium and synergies between partners.
  • Mobilization of resources.
  • Added value expected from French-Indian research collaboration.
  • Balanced Scientific and Financial contribution.
