About the Proposal
UNICEF has released a Request for Proposals under LRFP-OR-2024-01-9193066 to conduct a study focusing on why children come into conflict with the law. This RFP is aimed at identifying the underlying causes of juvenile delinquency and exploring solutions to prevent it. The study will investigate:
- Key contributing factors, such as economic hardship, low literacy, dysfunctional families, exposure to violence, and substance abuse.
- Societal changes, including urbanization and increased access to technology, that might influence criminal behavior.
- Perspectives of children in conflict with the law to uncover the root causes of their involvement in criminal activities.
- Best practices currently being implemented in Observation and Special Homes in Odisha, India.
The objective is to create strategies for crime prevention and improving rehabilitation efforts within the juvenile justice system.
